Fostering Program

The purpose of our Fostering program is to provide our breeding females and sometimes our males a wonderful, devoted, loving family right from day one.

We do not believe in keeping a large number of dogs in our home for breeding.   Only an amount that we can properly care for and give the attention they deserve. Standard Poodles are devote and social dogs and require and thrive on human contact. This is why we have begun the Fostering Program.

How the Foster Program Would Work

We place a female/male that we believe to be of excellent quality for our breeding program, a female between 7-10 weeks of age, in a foster home of our choice.  The dogs stay in this home then for life, returning to us only when necessary.
7-10 days for the breeding process, also 1 week prior to  delivery. When the puppies are born they will stay with us until the puppies are approx. 6 wk's old) During this time you are more then welcome to come see the dog and play with the puppies.

The puppy we place will only be in our breeding program if we feel she/he is deemed of breeding quality.  We pay for any genetic testing required to deem the dog genetically sound.( ie hips testing)  We also pay for all puppy shots, routine check ups and routine annual vaccinations.

If the dog isn't breeding quality you still have the opportunity to own the dog under the condition that you have the dog neutered/spayed.

If the dog is of breeding quality than we have the right to breed it to a wonderful dog of our choice.  As mention above this does mean that your family member/dog would have to leave you for a little while.  Again it is not a problem to come and visit her.  After pups are fully weaned the dog goes back to you.

After we have finished using her in our breeding program we transfer full ownership of the dog into the Foster Family's name. ( we only ask for three litters a possible  fourth if she doesn't produce 18 puppies combined in her three litters.)  We feel this is very fair as some programs require the dog until they are 5 years old.

The advantages:

The advantages to the dog is that when the dog is no longer in the breeding program there is no disruption. She/he goes back to the loving home that it has always known.

We are very selective when choosing a Foster Family.  The Foster Family must agree to all conditions listed in our contract to be able to be considered.  We feel that these conditions benefit all parties, the dog, the Foster Family and us. The most important goal is that the dog is placed in a loving, caring and knowledgeable home where they will be part of a family.

The Foster Families Responsibilities are outlined in our Breeding Program Contract which can be accessed by clicking on the link at the top of the page.
